A Prime Location
According to the Steffie Nelson of the L.A. Times:“once you do enter this neighborhood of single-family homes and low industrial buildings, nestled along the curving, soft-bottom section of the L.A. River, you’ll know that you’re in a part of Los Angeles like no other—secret and self-contained, where the hum of industry is quieted by a blanket of tranquility that seems to emanate from the river. This is Frogtown. The name comes from the frogs that used to emerge from the grassy banks, and it was later adopted by local gangs that gave the area a dangerous edge and kept most except locals and intrepid artists away. But things have changed over the past few years—dramatically in the last year alone—and a genuinely thriving creative community has blossomed.”
Artist Mural
To celebrate the artistic culture of this unique neighborhood, Watt Communities commissioned Tristan Eaton to paint a mural honoring the history of Frogtown. The mural will shortly be underway and is expected to be finalized by early 2020. Tristan Eaton is a celebrated artists and recently designed the Super Bowl tickets and game program. The N.Y. Times provided a spotlight on this artist recently: The Los Angeles-based artist Tristan Eaton has been painting mostly with spray cans since his teenage hit-and-run graffiti attacks in Detroit and New York. But he designed the Super Bowl tickets and game program on his computer, wrapping a century of N.F.L. highlights around a gleaming Lombardi Trophy.
